With sensitivities of ISO 160, 400 and 800, these films provide professional image quality for even the most demanding applications. Aside from Kodak’s spec sheet (which itself is a bit cryptic…), the information I find online about the Portra seems pretty unreliable. Each has its own workflow, and the large number of in-game variables makes comparisons difficult, resulting in wildly different results. That’s where this course comes in. Using the Color Checker and Gray Card as a reference point, we provide a detailed analysis of the three films and how they react to underexposure and overexposure.
