It’s that time of the year once again when editors have the opportunity to showcase their talents at Filmsupply Editfest, vying for a chance to claim prizes worth $65,000 and receive feedback from a distinguished panel of industry experts.

Commencing on September 5, 2023, this annual event is making a comeback with its 30-day editing competition, offering editors the chance to make their mark in Hollywood by demonstrating their editing prowess across three categories: Original Movie Trailer, Title Sequence, and Advertisement.

Editfest 2023 grants editors access to a selection of 40 clips from Filmsupply’s extensive cinematic footage library, along with a handpicked Musicbed playlist to aid in crafting an original edit for any of the aforementioned categories. Submissions will be evaluated by leading professionals in the field, and winners will receive valuable feedback that could potentially alter the course of their editing careers.

You can obtain the starter kits at no cost right here and begin working on your project for 2023 Editfest. Submissions open on September 5 and close on October 3 at 12 p.m. CST, allowing you a full month to bring your creative vision to life.

The People’s Choice voting period runs from October 10 to October 20, and the victors in each category will be revealed on October 30.

This year’s distinguished panel of industry-leading judges consists of:

  • Natalie Wozniak: Head of Editorial at The Mill LA (known for projects with Lays, BMW, Pepsi)
  • Tyrone Rhabb: Editor, represented by ArtClass (notable work for Fitbit, ESPN, Red Bull)
  • Sophia Lou: Editor, represented by Cartel (credited for projects like The Farmer’s Dog, Smartwater, Ford)
  • Jet Omoshebi: Senior Colorist at Goldcrest Post (recognized for contributions to The Witcher, Underworld, White Noise)

Editors’ final submissions will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • Storytelling
  • Emotion
  • Craft

Once the panel of judges has assessed the submissions, Filmsupply will announce the winners for Best Movie Trailer, Best Title Sequence, and Best Advertisement, as well as unveil the recipient of the People’s Choice award.
